Stress usually occurs in normal part of life. But too much stress can lead to emotional, psychological, and even physical problems including heart disease, high blood pressure, chest pains, or irregular heart to beats. Reducing stress can help lower high blood pressure. This study was aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of yoga therapy and physical exercises on stress and blood pressure among adults with hypertension Nanchiyampalayam, Dharapuram. The research approach used for the study was evaluative approach. The Quasi experimental non equivalent pre test post test control group design was used. The conceptual frame work of the study was based on the modified Imogine "King's Goal Attainment Theory" (1981). Purposive sampling technique was used to select 60 samples for the study, 30 in experimental group and 30 in control group. The tool used for the study was sphygmomanometer and perceived stress scale Questionnaire to measure blood pressure and stress. The intervention was performing physical exercises for 30 minutes and yoga therapy for 30 minutes for a period of 15 days in the experimental group. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The paired 't' value for systolic blood pressure was 10.04 which was significant at P<0.05 level of significance. The paired 't' value for diastolic blood pressure was16.2 which was significant at P<0.05 level of significance. The paired 't' value for stress was 21.6which was significant at P<0.05 level of significance. The independent 't' value was 6.276 for systolic blood pressure and 3.87 for diastolic blood pressure and17.7 for stress .which were significant at P<0.05 level of significance. There is a positive correlation between stress and systolic blood pressure r = 0.516. There were significant associations between blood pressure and stress with demographic variables but diet and habit of doing exercise has no significant association with stress and blood pressure. The study findings revealed that physical exercises and yoga therapy were beneficial and there was a significant reduction in blood pressure and stress among adult in experimental group. Keywords

Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a common disorder in women in which a group of physical and psychologic symptoms occur during the last few days of the menstrual cycle and before the onset of menstruation. The objectives of the study is to assess the knowledge regarding premenstrual syndrome among and to assess the knowledge regarding management of premenstrual syndrome among B.sc(N) I year students and to find out the association between the knowledge on premenstrual syndrome and its management with their selected demographic variables. The design adopted was non-experiment descriptive design.
Non-probability convenience sampling technique was used select 30 samples for the study. The tool used for the study was self-administered questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The study reveals that there is association between the demographic characteristics like age, religion and diet. The mean level of knowledge regarding premenstrual symptom and its management among I year B.Sc. nursing students is 11.5 (SD± 2.6) respectively. The result of study concluded that students have moderately adequate knowledge.

Hypertension is one of the leading causes of death and disability among the adults globally. The increasing incidence of hypertension will exert a devastating price on the physical and economic health of the global community. It remains an important health challenge and it is as “iceberg” disease. It is called as a silent killer because people who have it are often symptoms free. Many of us are living a life that leads to high blood pressure or Hypertension. As people age, the situation gets even worse. However according to experts, Hypertension is not predestined, reducing salt intake, adopting a desirable dietary pattern, losing weight and exercising can all help prevent Hypertension. This study was aimed to assess the knowledge and practice regarding hypertension and its association with the level of blood pressure among adults in Nanchiyampalayam at Dharapuram with a view of conducting an awareness programme. The research approach used for the study was descriptive approach. The conceptual framework used for the study was based on the revised Rosenstock’s Health Belief Model (1988). The design used for the study was descriptive survey design. Non probability Purposive sampling technique was used to collect 100 samples of adults for this study. Structured interview schedule was used to assess the knowledge and practice. Level of blood pressure was checked by using Sphygmomanometer daily for three days in the morning. Data gathered were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. The study findings revealed that majority 76% of the adults had moderately adequate knowledge, and majority 78% of the adults had moderately adequate practice. Majority 53% of the adults had grade 3 level blood pressure. Mean score of knowledge and practice regarding hypertension was 18.45(SD± 3.59) and 8.7(SD± 2.09). And there was a positive correlation between (r=0.4) of knowledge and practice. There was no significant association between knowledge scores regarding hypertension and level of blood pressure (χ2=10.84) at (P<0.05) level. There was significant association between practice scores regarding hypertension and level of blood pressure (χ2=22.44) at (P<0.05) level. There was association between knowledge scores and marital status (χ2=15.13), education (χ2=18.48) and occupation (χ2=22.29). And there was no association between practice scores among adults with their demographic variables except for marital status (χ2=12.49). The study findings revealed that there was a significant correlation between knowledge and practice scores regarding hypertension among adults and there was a significant association between practice scores regarding hypertension and level of blood pressure. Knowledge and practice influences hypertension among adults and adequate practice may help the individual to maintain normal blood pressure. Keywords

Adolescent years are a time of increased growth that is accompanied by increase in appetite and nutritional requirements. Accelerated growth and poor eating habits make the adolescent at risk for poor nutritional health. A study was aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of dietary interventions on iron deficiency anemia among adolescent girls from selected rural areas in Dharapuram. Evaluative approach was used for this study. Pre experimental one group pretest and post-test design was adopted to conduct the study. Conceptual frame work used for the study was revised penders health promotion model (2002). 60 Adolescent girls with hemoglobin level of below 11 gm/dl were selected as samples by using Non probability purposive sampling technique. The demographic variables of selected samples were assessed by self-administered questionnaire. The signs and symptoms of iron deficiency anemia was assessed by using observational checklist and the level of hemoglobin was assessed by Sahli’s hemoglobinmeter. Dietary intervention of sweet rice flake ball (50 gm) and one gooseberry was given for 30 days, made the samples to consume in front of the researcher. After 30 days of dietary intervention post-test level of hemoglobin and the signs and symptoms were assessed. The data were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. The study findings revealed that in pretest 53(88.3%) had the signs and symptoms at mild level, 7(11.7%) had moderate level. In post-test 59(98.3%) had signs and symptoms at mild level, 1(1.7%) had moderate level of signs and symptoms among adolescent girls with iron deficiency anemia. The study results revealed that the mean score of pretest and post-test level of hemoglobin among adolescent girls were 8.95(SD±1.13) and 11.24(SD±1.54) respectively. The mean difference was 2.29. The paired ‘t’ value was 13.5. Which was significant at P<0.05 level. Chi-Square test revealed that the demographic variables like Age (χ2 = 11.29), number of children in the family (χ2 = 20.89) Food habits (χ2 = 10.43), number of days of menstruation (χ2 = 15.62), habit of foot wear while going out (χ2 = 24.12) had significant association with post-test level of hemoglobin among adolescent girls at P<0.05 level. The study concluded that the dietary intervention of sweet rice flake and one gooseberry plays an important role in the improvement of hemoglobin among adolescent girls. Keywords
